Academic Requirements for PA School

Every accredited physician associate program requires a bachelor's degree before you start, along with specific science coursework. Here's what programs typically look for, from GPA benchmarks to the prerequisites that come up most often.

GPA Requirements

Cumulative GPA

cGPA or GPA

Your total GPA across all undergraduate courses, reflecting your academic consistency.

Most programs require a minimum of 3.0, but 3.6+ is considered competitive.

BCP

Biology-Chemistry-Physics

Calculated from courses only listed under the subjects of biology, chemistry, and physics.

Science GPA

sGPA

Calculated from all science-related courses.

A science GPA of 3.6+ is considered competitive.

CASPA calculates GPA using all college-level coursework ever attempted, including repeated courses, withdrawals, and failed courses. Because of this comprehensive approach, your CASPA GPA may differ from your transcript GPA and is often lower.
